In the heart of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, Hang Ma Street becomes a vibrant destination every Mid-Autumn Festival, drawing locals and visitors while bringing back childhood memories for generations of Hanoians.

In the days leading up to the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, hundreds of stalls fill the street with traditional and modern toys. Red lanterns in countless shapes hang alongside golden five-pointed star lanterns, while traditional papier-mâché masks shimmer among colorful modern toys.

Bathed in electric lights and the glow of the toys, Hang Ma takes on the appearance of a miniature museum of folk culture in the heart of the modern city.
