The event, held in the city for the first time, was a chance for Vietnamese people and locals in the city in particular to show sympathies to Holocaust victims and survivors.
Participants at the event, many of them local students, watched a Denmark film based on the real story of a Jewish family in Denmark on their way toescapethe German fascism.
Israeli Ambassador Nadav Eshar said that the event aims to honour millions of Jews victimized by the brutal crime just because of their difference.
Israel hopes to spread a message that as crimeshappen, people must join hands to fight them, he said.
Meanwhile, Kamal Malhotra, UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam, said that the Holocaust and the United Nations Outreach Programme, which has reached dozens of countries, will be further expanded as part of efforts against the spread of violence.
He stressed the significance of historical education which helps younger generations to improve their awareness of building a society with equality.
The United Nations designates 27 January - the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz death camp - as an annual International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust.
