Hanoi adopts traceability of farm products

Hanoi's agricultural product traceability system not only facilitates state management agencies to supervise quality, but is also highly beneficial for both consumers and businesses.
The Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has so far granted administrative account codes to 2,746 facilities, cooperatives, businesses and shops which trade safe food, agro, forestry and fishery products in the capital city. The department also granted QR codes for traceability for other businesses, so that the data of their over 7,771 products could be monitored.

According to Head of the Chuc Son Cooperative of Clean Vegetables and Fruits Hoang Van Kham, after more than 2 years of implementing the traceability program, products of the cooperative are appreciated by the partners and consumers for quality. Currently, the cooperative on average provides 720 tons of clean vegetables and fruit to the market each year. After being harvested, vegetables are taken to sorting and preliminary processing with traceability stamps affixed. The application of an electronic information system, especially using the QR code of traceability, also enhances the knowledge, awareness and responsibility of producers in the production process, creating safe products to serve consumers.

As a consumer, Nguyen Thi Hien (Van Quan ward, Ha Dong district) said that this is a necessary task to protect the interests of consumers. When the products are affixed with stamps, consumers can easily trace the origins of the products with their smartphones which include information on the place of production, manufacturer, name of vegetables, price and expiration date. The system can prevent counterfeit and poor-quality products from being sold in the market.

According to Deputy Director of the Hanoi Sub-department of Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance, Nguyen Thi Thu Hang, in traceability of agricultural products, producers and distributors must strictly comply with regulations on the stages of raising, harvesting, preserving and transporting food.

Meanwhile, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ta Van Tuong, said that until the end of the year, the agriculture sector will continue to support small and medium-sized enterprises and production and business facilities to cooperate in production, preliminary processing, processing and consuming agricultural products using a QR code for traceability of products

Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade coordinates with the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to maintain and develop the electronic information traceability system using QR codes for food and agricultural products in order to ensure safe agricultural products, chain production, traceability, and “one commune, one product” program.
