Cuba determined to continue expanding ties with Vietnam: President Díaz - Canel

Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Thanh Tung presented his credentials to Cuban President Miguel Díaz - Canel Bermúdez in Havana on October 14.

At a reception for the Vietnamese diplomat following the presentation, the Cuban leader expressed his admiration for Vietnam's considerable achievements in national development as well as the country’s success in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic.

He thanked Vietnam for the solidarity and valuable support that Vietnam has given to Cuba in both bilateral and multilateral aspects.

The leader affirmed that Cuba hopes and is determined to exert efforts to continue strengthening the solidarity and cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples.

He said that Vietnam and Cuba should continue working closely together to lift up the economic-trade and investment partnership to on a par with the sound bilateral political relations.

He spoke highly of the timely mutual support and collaboration between the two sides in the prevention and control of COVID-19, describing it as a manifestation of the traditional solidarity between Cuba and Vietnam, especially when the two countries are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.

For his part, Ambassador Tung underlined that Vietnam always keeps in mind the great support that Cuba has provided Vietnam both in the past and at present. He affirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy of supporting the just revolutionary cause of the Cuban people, while attaching great importance to deepening and expanding solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and mutual trust between the two countries over the past 60 years.

He also congratulated Cuba on its success in COVID-19 vaccine research and production.

Ambassador Tung expressed his belief that the Cuban people will overcome difficulties and challenges to successfully implementing the policy of updating the socio-economic growth model as well as the newly-designed socio-economic strategy./.
