CLV 9: Opportunities and Benefits

The 9th Summit of the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Area (CLV 9) took place in Siem Reap, Cambodia from November 23-24, 2016 with the participation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen and Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith.
Addressing the summit, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasised that the three nations together overcome common challenges in the region, find new opportunities for development and share benefits. In this spirit, the Vietnamese Prime Minister called on Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam to build a stable and open legal framework that facilitates the cross-border circulation of goods, services and labourers as well as investment in the CLV Development Triangle Area.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also underlined Vietnam’s proposals for cooperation in the future, including the application of the “one-stop-shop” customs model at the Moc Bai-Ba Vet international border gate in 2017 and regular dialogue mechanisms between governmental offices of the three countries and businesses. Vietnam will offer more vocational training scholarships to Cambodia and Laos, and increase the value of scholarships granted to Cambodian and Laos students.

He said that Vietnam’s Viettel telecom group will invest in modernising the telecom networks in the three countries using 4G technology and help with the formation of their e-governments.
