The 2nd Vietnam-China Youth Festival took place from November 24-27 2013 in Nanning, the capital city of south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The event was a pragmatic activity that helped cultivate the friendship, mutual understanding and trust between the two countries’ young people, contributing to enhancing the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.
Within the framework of the four-day festival, the two countries’ youngsters performed songs praising the traditional friendships, comradeship and brotherhood. They also joined in many exchange activities of culture, art, sports and environmental protection and visited revolutionary relics and families of some Chinese people and youths.
On November 26, the 2nd Vietnam-China Youth Festival was official held on a large scale in Nanning City, Quangxi Province. The event saw the attendance of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), Central Committee President Nguyen Thien Nhan, Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao and nearly 10,000 youngsters from both countries.

On the occasion, State President Truong Tan Sang and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping sent congratulatory letters to the event. In his letter, President Truong Tan Sang called on youngsters to be fully aware of their role and mission and make the world a better place with brainpower, passion and compassion. The President said he believes young people will keep striving and dedicating their efforts to the bilateral friendship, for peace and social progress in the region and the world.
Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping wrote that the friendship, which was forged by older generations of leaders of the two countries, is rooted in the hearts of the two peoples. Chinese President Xi Jinping called on the two sides to develop bilateral ties under the guidance of the principles of long-term stability, facing the future, good-neighbourliness and all-around cooperation.
According to the President, the lasting China-Vietnam friendship conforms to the fundamental interests of the two countries and their citizens.
"Youth is the future of a country, and the hope of a nation," he said, adding that young people will determine the future of the bilateral friendship.
Inheriting the friendship is the mission and responsibility of the youth of China and Vietnam, he said, expressing hope that Chinese and Vietnamese youths will work together to promote bilateral relations and contribute to world peace and development.

Addressing the event, Nguyen Thien Nhan affirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State and Government always attach importance to the neighbourly relationship and comprehensive co-operation with China, the development of which is consistently considered a top long-term priority of the nation’s foreign policy.
He affirmed Vietnam’s determination together with China to implement agreements reached by both sides’ high-ranking leaders, for the sake of both peoples and for regional and international peace, stability and prosperity.
Nhan stressed that the festival took place in the context when the friendship and cooperation between the two countries have seen new positive developments and it is a good chance for the youngsters to recall the Vietnam-China traditional friendship and enliven sentiments between the two countries’ youths, contributing to promoting the ties between the two Parties, States and peoples.
For his part, Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao reiterated that the China-Vietnam relationship is a valuable property shared by the two peoples. He expressed his hope that both countries will always act as good neighbours, friends, comrades and partners.
He also called on youths from both sides to embrace the time-tested friendship, pass on the baton of friendly relations from generation to generation, and join hands in creating a bright future for the two countries.

Following the success of the first Vietnam-China Youth Gala, the second event has helped the younger generations to understand the importance of the Viet Nam-China comprehensive co-operation and friendship to each country’s development as well as regional peace, friendship and mutual development.
Both sides considered the Vietnam-China Youth Gala as a landmark for their peoples and youths, becoming a strong momentum for people-to-people exchanges in the time to come.

The Vietnamese delegation consisted of 3,000 youngsters and the Chinese delegations consisted of 5,600 youngsters from Quangxi Province and 300 young preventatives from 31 cities, provinces and autonomous regions at the festival. |
