Hanoi has never been mentioned as much in the world’s media as it has in the last few days. Vietnam’s capital city is the venue for the second summit between the United States and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, an event which has been drawing global attention.
Hanoi was selected as the venue of the summit because Vietnam is a symbol of ending the war, closing the past, and opening up for integration and development, both domestic and foreign specialists agreed.
“Vietnam is thriving like few places on earth”.

In addition to its political stability and excellent security, Vietnam has in recent years organized successful international events.
The country is expected to hold the chairmanship of ASEAN in 2020 and is the only candidate in the Asia-Pacific region for the position of a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council from 2020-2021.

Vietnam has a strong role of reliability in the peace process on the Korean peninsula. It is also among the few countries having friendship relations with both the US and DPRK. Its geographical position is also convenient for the two leaders.
As the venue for the meeting between President Donald Trump and Chairman Kim Jong-un, Vietnam proves to be a country that wins trust, from traditional friends to world leading partners.

The event has confirmed the success of the renewal policy Vietnam has adopted for the past 30 years, heightening its position in the international community and making the nation a model of development for many countries.
“THANK YOU to our generous hosts in Hanoi this week: President Trong, Prime Minister Phuc, and the wonderful people of Vietnam!”
US President Donald Trump tweeted.
