Hanoi – the Green City

Hanoi is well known for not only its ancient buildings and historical relics, but also countless old trees which have become an indispensable part of the thousand-year-old capital.

Visiting Hanoi, one surely feels very relaxed  with the fresh atmosphere when walking along streets shaded by many types of trees, such as Sau (Dracontomelon duperreanum) trees on Phan Dinh Phung Street or Sao den (Hopea odorata) trees on Lo Duc Street. These rows of old trees provide shade and dissipate the heat of scorching days in summer. During autumn, the streets in Hanoi become ideal places for visitors and photographers to capture stunningly beautiful images of the city.

For Hanoians, trees are closely attached to both old and modern buildings, forming special architectural spaces of the capital city, thereby it is dubbed “The Green City” or “The City of Peace”.
