Celebrating Vesak 2022 in Hue

Hue imperial city is considered as a Buddhist center in Vietnam. After two years of being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2566th Vesak (Buddha's birthday) has been organized solemnly with a joyful atmosphere throughout the city.

It is one of the activities that welcomes the summer festival which will help ignite the preparation for the Hue Festival Week 2022 with the theme “Cultural heritage with integration and development” scheduled to take place in June.

The Vesak celebration is  not only a religious activity for Buddhists, but is also a cultural event that enriches the beliefs and spiritual life of people in the ancient capital.

This year, locals and Buddhists in Hue have celebrated the Vesak with meaningful activities. The jubilant atmosphere will spread from pagodas and monasteries to alleys and each house.

Dong Ho paintings unique folk culture in Red River Delta

In the old days, Dong Ho paintings were used as decorations at every home in the northern delta during the Lunar New Year festival (Tet). Hanging a Dong Ho painting in the home at the beginning of a new year was believed to bring happiness and prosperity for the family. The folk paintings have become part of Vietnamese life through generations and are now used in the modern arts, including painting, sculpture, fashion and pottery.
