From the early morning of May 18, thousands of people from all corners of the country gathered at the historic Ba Dinh Square to visit President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum in commemoration of his 135th birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025). Long lines of people waited for their moment to enter the Mausoleum and express their deepest respect and boundless gratitude towards the beloved leader of the nation.
The atmosphere surrounding the Mausoleum was deeply solemn and reverent. National flags fluttered gently, and prominent banners proclaimed, "Warmly welcome the 135th birth anniversary of the great President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025)". People respectfully placed wreaths before the Mausoleum, each floral tribute a silent testament to their deep admiration.
Nguyen Van Minh, a 63-year-old visitor from Bac Giang Province, shared his enduring emotion: "Even though this is my fifth visit to Uncle Ho, the feelings remain as vivid as my first. Every step inside the Mausoleum is deeply moving. It feels as though I am meeting him anew, witnessing the peace and serenity on his face".
The 135th anniversary also drew numerous student delegations from schools nationwide, who made the journey to the capital to pay their respects. Dressed in smart uniforms, they solemnly presented flowers, their actions a heartfelt expression of gratitude towards President Ho Chi Minh.
Tran Thi Ly Ly, a second-year student at the Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema, recounted her experience: "Our teachers have instilled in us, and we have studied extensively, Uncle Ho's extraordinary life and revolutionary achievements. Standing here today, before his Mausoleum, I feel immense pride and emotion. I pledge to emulate Uncle Ho's example in my studies and personal development, striving to be a worthy member of the nation's youth".
Beyond the local populace, many international visitors also came to honor President Ho Chi Minh on this significant occasion. The President Ho Chi Minh Relic Complex further commemorated the anniversary by hosting meaningful events, including photo exhibitions chronicling his life and career, and displays of invaluable artifacts and documents related to him.
Within the Presidential Palace Complex, at the historically significant House 67 where President Ho Chi Minh spent his final years, visiting groups were visibly moved as they toured his modest living and working space, complete with a simple bed, desk, and everyday belongings. His renowned simplicity and frugality continue to serve as an inspiring ideal for all Vietnamese citizens.
The steady stream of people making their way to Ba Dinh Square is expected to continue in the days ahead. This enduring pilgrimage not only reflects the deep reverence for President Ho Chi Minh but also stands as a powerful testament to the enduring legacy of his ideology, ethics, and style in the ongoing development and defense of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam./.
