New School, New Joy for Students in Son La’s Borderlands

New School, New Joy for Students in Son La’s Borderlands

After more than nine months of construction, the Yen Son Primary and Lower Secondary Boarding School in Yen Son Commune, Son La Province, has been completed and officially handed over, ready to welcome teachers and students for the 2026–2027 academic year.

With the new school year just days away, students in Son La’s border communes are preparing to return to classrooms with a special sense of excitement. For many, this year’s first day of school will be different. Instead of studying in modest facilities far from home, they will learn, eat and live at new boarding schools designed to provide a safe, comfortable and supportive environment.

The Yen Son school features spacious classrooms, dormitories, dining facilities and other essential amenities, giving students better conditions for both learning and daily life. Modern equipment and improved facilities are expected to help teachers enhance their teaching while encouraging students to study, participate in extracurricular activities and build stronger connections with their peers.

For children in remote border areas, a new school is more than just a place to learn. It represents new opportunities and a brighter future. The opening of modern boarding schools across Son La reflects efforts to improve education in disadvantaged areas and ensure that children, regardless of where they live, have greater opportunities to pursue their dreams.
