Long An Palace Preserves Treasures from the Nguyen Dynasty

Located on the northern bank of the Ngu Ha River in central Hue, Long An Palace now serves as the main exhibition space of the Hue Museum of Royal Antiquities, housing thousands of precious artifacts from the Nguyen Dynasty.

 

Built in 1845 during the reign of Emperor Thieu Tri, the palace dates from a period when Nguyen Dynasty court aesthetics reached their peak. It is regarded as a masterpiece of Nguyen Dynasty architecture, distinguished by its double-roofed structure and intricate wood carvings.

 

The palace consists of two interconnected sections. The front hall has seven bays and two single side wings, while the main hall features five bays and two double side wings. Its sturdy wooden framework is supported by more than 100 ironwood columns set on stone bases, showcasing the craftsmanship and architectural sophistication of the Nguyen Dynasty.
