Although it is only the end of the ninth lunar month, many peach blossom trees in Da Lat, Lam Dong province, have burst into bloom, delighting visitors with their vibrant pink flowers. Native varieties and hybrids crossed with peach trees from northern Viet Nam have been grown in local home gardens for decades, adding a distinctive touch to the city’s landscape.

Peach blossoms are traditionally associated with the Lunar New Year, when their delicate flowers signal the arrival of spring. Their early bloom in Da Lat has therefore attracted visitors eager to admire and photograph the flowers before the usual festive season.

The cool climate and high elevation of the Central Highlands city provide favorable conditions for growing peach trees. Over the years, local residents have planted them in gardens and around their homes, creating colorful scenes among the city’s familiar pine forests, sloping streets and old villas.

The early blossoms also offer a fresh attraction for Da Lat’s tourism sector, drawing travelers who want to enjoy the flowers in a quieter period before the Lunar New Year holiday rush. Visitors can stroll through residential areas, take photos and experience the city’s peaceful atmosphere amid the pink blooms.

According to the owner of this house on Tran Hung Dao street (Xuan Huong ward, Da Lat), this is the first time the peach blossoms have bloomed so early - without the need for the leaf-stripping or watering typically required in previous years. Photo: VNA
