19th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics Concludes

The 19th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA 2026) officially concluded in Hanoi on October 4, bringing together talented young astronomers from around the world.

Vietnam sent two teams comprising 10 students to the competition. After nearly 10 days of intensive competition, all 10 Vietnamese contestants won medals, including six Gold Medals and four Silver Medals.

The results highlighted the strong performance of Vietnamese students in astronomy and astrophysics, as well as their ability to compete at the international level. The competition featured a range of challenging theoretical and practical tasks designed to test participants’ knowledge, analytical skills and ability to apply scientific principles.

Hosted in Vietnam for the first time, IOAA 2026 provided an opportunity for young scientists from different countries to exchange knowledge and experiences while promoting international cooperation in astronomy and science education.
