Ahead of the APEC 2027 Economic Leaders' Week, Phu Quoc International Airport is undergoing its largest expansion to date. With an investment of nearly 22 trillion dong, the project resolves immediate transport demands while bolstering the island’s position on the international aviation map.

The apron is expanding to over 120 parking stands, including 71 equipped with modern boarding bridges. Alongside the existing Terminal 1, the new Terminal 2—inspired by a rising phoenix—is under construction. Additionally, a 6,000-sq-m VIP terminal designed by Italian architect Marco Casamonti features a sea-eagle design blending natural elements with state-of-the-art diplomatic facilities.

Driven by government oversight and major corporate backing, construction across the special economic zone remains on fast track. Despite land clearance and planning adjustments, developers and authorities are clearing bottlenecks to ensure core items complete on schedule for operational testing.

Beyond the airport perimeter, external transport projects are advancing, including Phu Quoc's first Light Rail Transit (LRT) system, which will connect the airport directly to convention centers and resort hubs.
