Vietnam to hold Anti-virus Asia Researchers Int’l Conference

Hanoi, November 6 (VNA) –The world’s 50 most well-known anti-virus software producers will gather in the central city of Da Nang from December 2- 4 to discuss cyberspace security solutions.

According to a press conference held by the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications (MIT) in Hanoi on November 5, Vietnam is the 18th country to hold the annual Association of Anti-virus Asia Researchers International Conference (AVAR 2015), according to Quan Doi Nhan Dan (People’s Army)’s newspaper.

This year’s event, themed “The Age of Cyber Warfare”, will attract participation of leading specialists and enterprises in the field, including Microsoft, Intel, Mc Afee and Kaspersky.

It is estimated losses caused by cyber viruses in the Asia Pacific in 2014 accounted for 230 billion USD, while cyber warfare has spurred arms races among countries’ national defence systems.

Recently, Vietnam has become a hotspot in the Southeast Asian and Asia Pacific regions for information security. Many government and enterprise information systems and websites have been attacked, causing significant losses.

Deputy Head of the Information Security Department Nguyen Huy Dung said the conference would help Vietnamese entities and enterprises connect with international specialists and implement the State’s policies to improve awareness about information security in Vietnam.
