Vietnam promotes tourism in China’s Taiwan

A programme will be held in Kaohsiung and Taipei cities in China’s Taiwan from July 24-27 to promote tourism in Vietnam, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).

Representatives from the Vietnam Economic and Culture Office in Taipei and Taiwan Tourism Bureau along with more than 100 travel agencies, airlines and press agencies are expected to join the event.

The VNAT will introduce key tourism products and must-see destinations in Vietnam as well as the country’s tourism development policies.

There will be an art performance and an exchange programme between businesses.

In the first six months of 2018, Vietnam welcomed nearly 340,000 Taiwanese visitors, a year-on-year rise of 13.8 percent.

Last year, the country served more than 616,000 Taiwanese tourists, up 121.5 percent against 2016, according to the VNAT. The number is expected to hit 800,000 in 2018.

Meanwhile, more than 380,000 Vietnamese tourists visited Taiwan in 2017, up 94.94 percent year-on-year.

The Taiwanese tourism sector aims to host 700,000 Vietnamese holidaymakers in 2018.
