Hanoi, May 18 (VNA) – The Vietnam-China people’s friendship festival and a ‘red’ tourism route following the past journey of President Ho Chi Minh in China kicked off on May 17 in Fangchenggang city in China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Addressing the event, Vice Mayor of Fangchenggang Jiang Xiuqian said the launch of the red tourism named “In the Footprints of Uncle Ho” and the Vietnam-China people’s friendship festival are important activities of people-to-people exchange between the two countries.
The event also marks the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China and the 125th anniversary of the late President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday, he said.
Vu Xuan Hong, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations, underscored that the festival and the travel route will contribute to educating the two countries’ people, especially the youth, about the Vietnam-China ties.
He also recalled the revolutionary journey of President Ho Chi Minh in China, noting that every step he made in the country was closely associated with important events of the Vietnamese revolution and marked the close ties between Vietnam and China.
After the launching ceremony, delegates laid flowers at the monument dedicated to Chinese and Vietnamese fallen revolutionaries, the Ho Chi Minh Temple, the China-Vietnam Friendship House and the place from which ships departed for Vietnam carrying aids to help the Vietnamese people’s national liberation war.
The event will last until May 22.
