Vietnam, Brunei have expanded defence ties

Hanoi, June 1 (VNA) – Vietnam and Brunei have expanded their defence cooperation across levels, as viewed by the two countries’ officers at the 55 th founding anniversary of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

The function in Hanoi on May 31 was hosted by the Embassy of Brunei in Vietnam.

Defence attache Lieutenant Colonel Tarip Haji Karia said the Royal Brunei Armed Force and the Defence Ministry of Brunei have recently paid special attention to promoting the defence ties with other countries, including those in ASEAN.

He spoke highly of the efforts made by Brunei and Vietnam to broaden their defence affiliations across levels and domains.

Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army Senior Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan attended the celebration.

He agreed that the relations between the Vietnam People’s Army and the Royal Brunei Armed Force have been reinforced through visits, naval cooperation, and personnel training.

He expressed his hope that the two countries’ political determination, goodwill and efforts will bring their defence ties to the next level.
