Vietnam attends Army-2019 arms show in Russia

A Vietnamese delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Defence Sen. Lieut. Gen. Be Xuan Truong, is attending the annual Military-Technical Forum (Army-2019), which runs in Kubinka city in Moscow suburbs from June 25 to 30.

Opening at the Patriot Congress and Exhibition Center on June 25, the event, now in the fifth edition, brings together representatives of over 120 countries, including 41 high-ranking delegations.

In his letter sent to participants of the event, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated the Army-2019 is a chance not only for military technical cooperation but also for strengthening relations among countries’ defence ministries.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu noted that the number of official military delegations to the arms show has tripled after five years.

In 2015, there were 818 participating companies displaying about 7,500 products at the event. This year, the figures are 1,300 and 27,000, respectively.

The Army-2019 is expected to attract more than 1 million visitors.

While in Russia, the Vietnamese delegation is scheduled to meet with head of the Russian section under the Russia-Vietnam intergovernmental committee on military technical cooperation, and executives of Rosoboronexport – the only state organisation in Russia for exporting military and dual-use products, services and technologies.
