Young Circus Talents from Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia

To foster solidarity and friendly cooperation  between Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Vietnam Circus Federation to organise the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Young Circus Talent Contest at the Vietnam Circus and Vaudeville School in Hanoi. 
The contest attracted the participation of more than 200 artists, aged less than 27, from Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. During four days of competing, the troupes brought to the audience 34 fascinating circus acts.

The host country of Vietnam had four troupes participating in the contest, including the Vietnam Circus and Vaudeville School, the Vietnam Circus Federation, the Hanoi Circus and Vaudeville Theatre and the Long An People’s Circus Troupe which  are leading circus training places in Vietnam. Most of the performances by Vietnamese artists were well prepared and won many prizes at international circus festivals.

At the contest, young Lao artists manifested their professional skills in seven acts, especially in the “Girl and Rose” with difficult swings which was highly appreciated by the jury. The Cambodian Troupe fascinated audiences by acts using a background of traditional music. Evaluating this act, the  Rector of the Vietnam Circus and Vaudeville School Hoang Minh Khanh said that using traditional music in a circus act is creative  and the Vietnam’s circus troupes should imitate it because Vietnam has diversified traditional music.

The contest wrapped up successfully with five gold medals presented to the  “Girl and Rose” of the Lao National Circus, “Martial art” of the Cambodian National Circus; and “A flower Village’s Girl”, and “Performance on a single bar” of the Vietnam Circus and Vaudeville School and “Lady in the painting” of the Vietnam Circus Federation.
