| The Vietnam Collection Grand
Prix 2004 Competition entitled "Dreams" was held recently with the aim of
discovering talented fashion designers and opening a way for Vietnamese
fashion to approach the international market.
With the criterion of modern and traditional
women costume, this year's competition attracted 1,205 competitors
nationwide with 11,847 modes, of which 29 fashion collections were
selected to be displayed in the final night.
In almost
all the modes, young fashion designers revealed their unique and creative
ideas through the use of materials and colours. Based on cotton and wool
materials and overwhelming yellow colours, the "Tropical Zone" collection
by designer Nguyen Quang Huy, a 27 year-old designer at the Lega Fashion
Company, won the "Grand Prix".
All the
participants, from 17 to 27 years old, have a passionate love for fashion.
The competition provided them an opportunity to learn and exchange
experiences, and moreover it helped them find out a distinctive
expression.
"For me
fashion style is the result of working in a serious and strict manner,"
confided Do Trinh Hoai Nam. He said that his modes combined glacial and
romantic beauty, which was expressed through creases, fringes and colours
of purple, green and dark yellow. Hence they helped the wearers more
graceful and gentle.nbsp;nbsp;
26-year-old Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen, a student at the Oil Painting
Faculty at Ho Chi Minh City's Fine Arts University, used the advantages in
painting to create the characteristics for her collection "Rose Garden".
With the red colour and silk materials, Huyen created modes with strange
patterns on the colourful painting background.
Meanwhile
27-year-old Hong Vu Chuong greatly impressed fashion lovers with his
"Secular Eyes". Properly, "preciseness" is the most suitable word when
they remarked Chuong's style. Chuong used coarse cloth, which was
processed so as to be different from other materials, and neutral colours
and straight styles to highlight the pure beauty of wearers..
