The official visit to Vietnam by President of the Republic of Seychelles James Alix Michel on August 28-29, 2013 marked a new development in the bilateral relations with specific achievements of cooperation in the fields of political-diplomacy, trade, aviation and tourism.
During the visit, President James Alix Michel talked with State President Truong Tan Sang, met with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
At the meetings, the two sides expressed their satisfaction with the encouraging results of multifaceted cooperation between the two countries. Seychelles is currently the biggest African investor in Vietnam. The two sides wanted to further strengthen and expand the solidarity, friendship and cooperation in all fields, especially in economics, trade and investment.
The leaders exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern and agreed to share information and boost coordination at regional and international forums to contribute to joint efforts for global peace, stability, cooperation and development.

On the occasion, the two sides signed five cooperation documents in the fields of diplomacy, aviation, trade, tourism and the twinning relationship between the two capitals of Hanoi and Victoria. The Seychelles side also officially recognized the market economy status of Vietnam.
While staying in Vietnam, President James Alix Michel laid a wreath at the Martyrs Monument and President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, attended the Vietnam – Seychelles Business Forum, visited the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences and other economic and cultural units.
