Headliners Top Legislator Visits Sweden, Hungary and the Czech Republic 20/04/2017 At the invitation of Speaker of the Swedish parliament Urban Ahlin, Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary Kover Laszlo and President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Milan Stech, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan successfully paid official visits to Sweden, Hungary and the Czech Republic from April 6-14, 2017. The visits had significant meaning, targeting to strengthen the traditional cooperation and friendship of Vietnam and three nations in general and speeding up collaboration between the Vietnam National Assembly and parliaments of the three countries in particular. This was the first Vietnamese top legislator to Sweden 24 years after the visit of former National Assembly Chairman Nong Duc Manh in 1993; to Hungary after 9 years and to the Czech Republic after 8 years since the visits of former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong in 2008 and 2009. In Sweden Sweden ranked 43rd out of 115 countries and territories investing in Vietnam with 52 investment projects, worth approximately 92.7 million US dollars (December 2016). It has given the largest gratis aid to Vietnam (since 1967) with a total of over 3.5 billion US dollars.
