Stunning volcanoes in Dak Nong Global Geopark

Millions of years of special tectonics of the earth’s crust has created five volcanoes in Dak Nong Global Geopark .

According to geologists, the five volcanoes have a pristine beauty and unique structures. At present, there are 5 volcanoes in Dak Nong Geopark, including Nam Dong, Bang Mo (Cu Jut district), Nam Blang, Nam Kar (Krong No district) and Nam Gle (Dak Mil district).

Nam Blang volcano (Chu R'luh volcano)

Located in Krong No district, the Nam Blang volcano, previously known as Chu R'luh volcano. The volcano with a distinctive conical frustum shape is spectacular and visitors can see far and from different directions.

Nam Blang is the only volcano in Dak Nong Global Geopark  which creates a spectacular 50 lava cave system of the greatest scale and uniqueness in Southeast Asia, containing many interesting things that need to be further researched and decoded.

A large number of prehistoric artifacts found inside some caves have attracted numerous paleontologists from around the world as well as highlighting the scientific and educational values of this unique geological site.

Nam Gle volcano (Thuan An volcano)

Located in Dak Mil district, Nam Gle crater is a young volcano in the Central Highlands. Its shape is different from the other volcanoes in the area of Dak Nong Geopark.

From above, Nam Gle volcano looks like two pieces of mussel shells nested together. It is one of beautiful ones which was created from an explosive fissure eruption.

Near the foot of Nam Gle vocalno is a large and beautiful natural lake that might have been formed during the active time of the volcano.

Nam Dong volcano

Located in Cu Jut district, Nam Dong is the Dak Nong Global Geopark's third largest volcano with breathtaking and well-preserved views.

This crater has a funnel shape with a relatively indistinguishable height from its surrounding landscape. Nam Dong is considered a caldera since its morphology cannot be clearly distinguished from a distance (within a 1 to 2 km radius).

Nam Kar volcano cluster

Located in Krong No district, Nam Kar is considered the most stunning crater in Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark.

Along with the main crater, there are 2 other sub-craters characterized by the erupting-from-central-vent type. Tree mold found here also provides scientific evidence of the mechanism and environment of the volcanic cone formed by this volcano.

This volcano is quite small but together with its "satellite" - the sub-crater and cinder cone nearby – creates the unique formation, structure and episodic nature to form the most magnificent scenery of Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark.
