In the fiery heat of summer, people at Cổ Chất Village (Nam Định Province) still work hard on their weaving machine, trying to preserve the traditional handicraft industry.

This small village on the bank of Ninh Cơ River used to be well-known for their sericulture and mulberry silk business.

According to the elders, traditional silk production in Cổ Chất has existed for a few hundred years.

Many families depend on silk production as their main source of income for generations.

During the colonial era, the French even built a sericulture factory right next to the village. Since then, Cổ Chất Village started to see its golden days.
