Central Highlands cuisine contest held in Dak Lak

A Central Highlands cuisine contest took place in Ko Tam community-based cultural and ecological tourist area in Buon Ma Thuot city, the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, on March 13 as part of the ongoing seventh Buon Ma Thuot coffee festival.

The event attracted 32 restaurants, hotels and eateries in five Central Highlands provinces, encouraging the use of coffee as an ingredient.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee H’Yim Kdoh said the contest will enable artisans to introduce traditional food to visitors, thus enriching Vietnam’s cuisine culture.

From March 9 – 16, local food will be available at the tourist area from 8am – 6pm.

On March 9 – 10, the Taego Zen Buddhism executive board from the Republic of Korea’s Jeollabuk province offered Korean typical stir-fried rice cake tteokbokki to 6,000 visitors for free.

The organising board presented one first, two second, three third and 10 consolation prizes to contestants.

The most beautiful stall and the most impressive cook prizes were also granted.
