Vietnam to compete in JENESYS Japan-ASEAN U19 event

Vietnam will take part in the JENESYS Japan-ASEAN U19 Women’s Football Tournament from March 2-6.

The tournament will take place in Yomitan Village, Okinawa, with the U19 women’s national teams from seven ASEAN nations, the U19 Japan’s national team, and two local teams, Okinawa Prefecture High School Women’s Select Team and Vicsale Okinawa FC Nabiita Youth.

Participants will be divided into two groups. Vietnam will compete alongside Okinawa, Thailand, Japan and Myanmar.

Vietnam will take on Myanmar on March 2, Okinawa on March 3, Thailand on March 4 and then Japan two days later.

The event will serve as an exchange platform for youngsters from Japan and ASEAN countries. During their stay, the participating teams will be given the opportunity to observe and experience the Japanese culture off the pitch.

It will also give the Vietnamese team a chance to hone their skills to prepare for the upcoming second qualifying round of the AFC U19 Championship.

The JENESYS Programme (Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths) is a project advanced by the Japanese government from the standpoint of providing a sound foundation for strong solidarity within Asian and Oceanian countries through large-scale youth exchanges.
