Vietnam Airlines adjusts flights in fear of super typhoon

Vietnam Airlines plans to adjust flights to and from Hong Kong (China) on September 16 and 17 to avoid impacts from Super Typhoon Mangkhut.

It will cancel four flights between Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City and Hong Kong, namely VN592, VN593, VN594 and VN595, on September 16. It will also delay two flights, VN598 on September 16 and VN599 on September 17, that link HCM City and Hong Kong.

The affected passengers will be supported to change to other flights free of charge on the next day, the national flag carrier said on September 15.

Vietnam Airlines said it will keep a close watch on the weather situation to update its plan. It also advised passengers who plan to move to or from Hong Kong to update the weather forecast and the carrier’s announcement.

For more information, passengers can enter the website www.vietnamairlines.com or the official Facebook page www.facebook.com/Vietnam Airlines, and contact the carrier’s ticket offices or the customer service phone number 1900 1100.

Mangkhut hit Cagayan province on Luzon Island, north of the Philippines, at 1:40 am of September 15, sustaining wind speeds of over 200km per hour. It is entering the East Sea and heading towards south China.
