Tours launched for Vietnamese football fans to ASIAD quarter-finals

After Vietnam’s Olympic team beat Bahrain to win a ticket to the ASIAD quarter-finals, many travel companies in Hanoi have promptly designed tours to bring Vietnamese fans to Indonesia to support the players on August 27.

Local football lovers are excited as this is the first time Vietnam’s male football squad has entered the quarter-finals of the Asian Games (ASIAD).

To meet the travel demand to Indonesia, a number of travel companies have coordinated with air carriers to launch direct flights between Hanoi and the country.

Vietravel’s Hanoi branch has joined hands with national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines to deploy an exclusive direct flight between Hanoi and Jakarta on August 27 to serve 100 fans, according to Pham Van Banh, deputy director of Vietravel’s Hanoi branch.

Apart from the airfare, the tour package with a cost from 15.99 million VND (700 USD) also covers a ticket to the quarter-finals, transportation fees, food, and a tour guide, he said, adding that the company also will provide passengers with cheerleading uniforms and banners.

Other companies like Golden Tour, Hanoi Red Tour, Avitour, Elite Tour, and New Tour are also ready to transport Vietnamese fans to Indonesia for the match.

Vietnam’s Olympic team won 1- 0 against Bahrain during the last stages of the 16-team knockout round for the men’s football of the ASIAD in Indonesia on August 23.

The goal, described as “more valuable than gold” by many fans and commentators, was scored by Nguyen Cong Phuong, wearing jersey number 9, at the 88th minute.

The squad will face Syria in the quarter-finals at 7:30pm Vietnamese time on August 27.
