Hanoi (VNA) – Potential for defence engagements remains huge for US and Vietnam to tap, said Amiral Scott Swift, Commander of the US Pacific Fleet, during a meeting with Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army Pham Ngoc Minh in Hanoi on October 5.

At the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Minh praised the robust growth of the ties in humanitarian activities, disaster response, UN peacekeeping missions and the overcoming of war aftermath.

He stressed his expectation that the Vietnamese and US armies continue promoting cooperation based on mutual respect and for benefit of each country as well as for peace and security in the region.
