Phu Yen inaugurates two solar power plants

The Xuan Tho 1 and Xuan Tho 2 solar power plants were inaugurated in Song Cau town in the south-central province of Phu Yen on June 27.

Construction on the two plants started in January on a total area of 120ha in Xuan Tho 1 and Xuan Tho 2 communes by Phu Khanh Solar Power Joint Stock Company. Each plant has a capacity of 49.6MW and an estimated output of 76.2 million kWh of electricity a year.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the company’s General Director Tran Minh Tien said that the commissioning of the two plants contributes to adding more renewable energy to the national grid, solving the power shortage problem in the dry season, and generating jobs for around 100 locals.

The two plants were officially connected to the national grid on June 11.
