The ceremony was attended by provincial leaders, military officials, veterans, relatives of martyrs, and local residents, who gathered to pay tribute to those who devoted their youth and lives to the international mission in Laos. Incense, flowers, and moments of silence were offered in remembrance of the fallen soldiers whose remains were recovered during the 2025–2026 dry-season search campaign.

For decades, teams from Vietnam have carried out search and repatriation missions across Laos to locate and bring home the remains of soldiers and experts who died while supporting the Lao revolutionary movement during the war years. Despite difficult terrain and limited information, search teams continue to work tirelessly with support from Lao authorities and local people.

The 80 sets of remains were discovered in several provinces of Laos and carefully repatriated to Vietnam after months of field operations. Many of the martyrs remain unidentified, but local authorities and military units have pledged to continue efforts to verify information and help families searching for missing relatives.

Speaking at the ceremony, representatives of Nghe An province expressed deep gratitude for the sacrifices made by the volunteer soldiers and experts, describing them as symbols of courage, international solidarity, and the enduring friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

The reburial ceremony reflected Vietnam’s long-standing tradition of honoring those who gave their lives for the nation and for international duty. It also served as a reminder to younger generations of the sacrifices made in pursuit of peace, independence, and the special bond shared by the two neighboring countries.
