Located 1,200m above sea level in the Hoang Lien mountain range, the village is home to 45 H’Mong households with more than 200 residents. Surrounded by green forests and mountains, Lao Chai offers a peaceful highland setting, with traditional wooden houses, terraced fields and winding paths reflecting local life.

 

The village’s appeal also lies in its rich cultural heritage. Residents preserve traditional customs, clothing, handicrafts, music and communal activities, giving visitors opportunities to experience the H’Mong way of life.

Community-based tourism is creating new opportunities for local people to promote their heritage and improve their livelihoods. Several households have developed homestays and tourism services, allowing visitors to enjoy local cuisine, explore traditional crafts and take part in everyday activities.

 

 

Combining natural beauty with living cultural traditions, Lao Chai is becoming a promising community tourism destination in Lai Chau, offering visitors an authentic highland experience while supporting the preservation of H’Mong cultural values.
