Homeland as seen from above

Trung Pham or Pham Huy Trung is one of few Vietnamese photographers who have had their photos posted on National Geographic’s Your Shot Daily Dozen. Trung Pham has impressed the Your Shot community with his photos taken from above.
National Geographic’s Your Shot at https://yourshot.nationalgeographic.com is a photo community where photographers from all over the world can share their photos. Each day National Geographic photo editors select 12 best photos out of thousands of recent uploads to Your Shot. The selected photos are called the Daily Dozen.

The number of Vietnamese photographers uploading photos to Your Shot has recently increased but those with as many as 32 photos selected as one of the Daily Dozen like Trung Pham has, are few.

Trung Pham was born in Hanoi in 1979, and now lives in Saigon. He graduated from Swedish Chalmers University of Technology in 2006 with a master’s degree in information and communication technology.

Trung got involved in photography by chance after seeing beautiful photos on the internet which impressed him very much. He wondered how those wonderful photos could be taken and started studying photography himself.

Trung started his photography career in September 2019 with a Nikon D7200.  With the knowledge and experience learnt from older photographers, Trung tried to find his own photography angles.  A technology expert, Trung quickly mastered post-processing techniques and gradually shaped his own style.

Trung Pham is a Flycam photographer who can select the right height to ensure proper structure for his photos. His photos are often taken at the right moment with the appropriate structure and light shaping, and gentle colors, creating cubist pictures.

After only two years as a photographer, Trung’s photos have been published in international photography magazines, including National Geographic.

Trung has won international prizes, including the 2017 Sony Photo Awards, but does not talk about his achievements. He just silently travels from North to South to capture beautiful places, “forgetting myself in the work”.
