Ho Chi Minh City leaders pay tribute to fallen heroes ahead of Tet

They observed a minute of silence in profound appreciation of the sacrifices made by heroic Vietnamese mothers and fallen soldiers who gave their youth and lives for national liberation and reunification.

Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang led a delegation to offer incense and lay wreaths at martyrs’ cemetery in Long Binh ward on February 13.

Accompanying him were officers from Military Region 7 and leaders of the municipal Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s chapter.

They observed a minute of silence in profound appreciation of the sacrifices made by heroic Vietnamese mothers and fallen soldiers who gave their youth and lives for national liberation and reunification.

Later, they placed incense at individual gravesites in personal tribute to nearly 14,500 martyrs laid to rest there.

Next, the delegation proceeded to the Ho Chi Minh City cemetery in Linh Xuan ward, where they honoured successive generations of revolutionary leaders and veteran fighters whose contributions were instrumental in national construction and defence.

They further offered incense and flowers in memory of President Ho Chi Minh at his museum in Xom Chieu ward and at the President Ho Chi Minh Monument Park on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street in Sai Gon ward. Parallel ceremonies paid homage to President Ton Duc Thang at his museum in Sai Gon ward.

On the same morning, another delegation led by Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Duoc laid wreaths and offered incense at Ben Duoc-Cu Chi Memorial Temple, the martyrs’ cemetery in An Nhon Tay commune, and the city Policy Cemetery. They also paid homage to heroic Vietnamese mother and Hero of the People’s Armed Forces Nguyen Thi Ranh at her memorial house.

At the same time, Vice Chairmen of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Loc Ha and Bui Minh Thanh attended a memorial service at Binh Duong Martyrs’ Cemetery in Thuan Giao ward, while Vice Chairman Hoang Nguyen Dình joined a tribute ceremony at Ba Ria - Vung Tau Martyrs’ Cemetery./.
