The northern province of Thai Nguyen on October 30 launched the Hanoi–Thai Nguyen Heritage Train, welcoming nearly 100 guests, including spouses of ambassadors and heads of foreign representative missions in Viet Nam, on a journey combining sightseeing and cultural experiences.
The launch marked the 195th anniversary of Thai Nguyen’s founding (November 4, 1831–2026) and the opening of the 2026 Thai Nguyen International Tea Festival.
The heritage train is expected to offer visitors a new way to explore the cultural, historical and tourism attractions of Thai Nguyen while promoting railway tourism. The journey connects the capital with the northern midland province, allowing passengers to enjoy the scenery along the route and discover the local cultural identity.
The launch also highlights Thai Nguyen’s efforts to diversify its tourism products and promote its image to international visitors. Known as one of Viet Nam’s major tea-growing areas, the province hopes to use the train service to introduce its tea culture, landscapes and distinctive local experiences to a wider audience.
