Ha Long Bay burst into light on August 27 as 72 tourist and restaurant vessels sailed in formation, their dazzling lights transforming the UNESCO World Heritage site into a spectacular nighttime stage.

The event was held to celebrate the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day and to mark the upcoming establishment of Quang Ninh as a centrally governed city on September 1. It also highlighted the province’s efforts to expand nighttime tourism and develop the heritage economy.

As darkness fell, the vessels gathered along the bay, creating a striking display against the silhouettes of its iconic limestone islands and islets. Their synchronized movements and colorful lights offered visitors a new way to experience one of Vietnam’s most celebrated natural attractions.
Beyond its visual appeal, the event demonstrated the potential of Ha Long Bay to host large-scale cultural and tourism activities after sunset. By combining the bay’s natural heritage with creative tourism experiences, Quang Ninh aims to diversify its tourism products, encourage longer visitor stays, and generate new economic opportunities.
