Bac Lieu province is well-known for not only longan orchards, but also delicious banh xeo, a type of pancake loved throughout the Mekong Delta region. Visiting the region, one should not miss enjoying Giong Nhan banh xeo in the two communes of hiep Thanh and Vinh Trach Dong.

The rice flour used in Giong Nhan soft and chewy, and the stone mortar ensures it's not too sticky. The cake's crispiness is a result of skilled frying. The filling is comprised of lean meat, banh xeo is what makes it so appealing. It's tiny shrimp, mung beans, bean sprouts, cassava, and onions. The local tiny shrimp from Bac Lieu are particularly noteworthy, as their rich, sweet taste adds a unique flavor to the dish.

The banh xeo is accompanied by fresh greens grown in the orchard's soil, including lettuce, mustard greens, basil and fish mint. The fish sauce is expertly blended, with a harmonious balance of saltiness, sourness, sweetness, and a hint of spiciness from garlic and chili.

Tourists visiting the area would do well to pair their Giong Nhan banh xeo with the region's unique longan wine for a truly delightful experience.
