With 30 large sculptures and paintings, the “Filters” contemporary art exhibition marked success in the creation of new works in 2015 by three well-known artists Bui Hai Son,  Nguyen Quang Vinh and  Le Kinh Tai.

All three are highly appreciated by art lovers at home and abroad. Their works displayed at the exhibition have gone beyond the restrictions of aestheticism to swim with new art-perceiving trends and the prism of outlook on the inner world of each person. Actually, each artist has discovered art in his own peculiar way which is the creative and clearly egoistical way, moving together with a social and epochal conscience.

Sculptor Bui Hai Son is now a lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture. He participated in many architectural exhibitions and creative camps at home and abroad. The source of inspiration for his works comes from the forms and structures of living sources, the embodiment to convey aspirations for general harmony between humans and nature. The artistic works of  Bui Hai Son are known for their content called “Sources”. He revealed that the image of rice grains symbolises the living space in his native place. The “Source” subject revives the beauty of the labour process from seed sowing, to seed development into rice plants, then banding under ears, bearing the life from inside....

For painter Nguyen Quang Vinh, the sea, still lifes as well as others become the subjects of his creation to express his inner feelings. The sea always hovers and obsesses  human life. This is manifested in Nguyen Quang Vinh’s paintings usually with the absence of the image of a specific person. The sea and “the return” is also the complexity of the human soul and in front of nature, which is sometimes imposing, sometimes formidable or peaceful.

Being appreciated by domestic art critics and in the international market, Painter Le Kinh Tai has been one of the most successful contemporary Vietnamese painters. His works are powerful and scornful but warm and close in the way of conveying the core conflicts from “Con” (Animal) and “Nguoi” (Human) in the pulse of modern life. Le Kinh Tai expresses the evolution of space, society and time through paintings with the uninterrupted appearance of many hot colours; powerful and liberal lines, arousing scornful motions. His works displayed in the “Filters” contemporary art exhibition are important ones in his cause and newly created works “Reflect” his look at life and continuous struggles in pursuit of happiness.

Visiting the “Filters” contemporary art exhibition, people were seemingly invited into an art world in a modern exhibition space, where they shared their indulgence and artistic sense with subtle emotions. The exhibition was organised by Urban Art under the project aiming to introduce Vietnamese talented artist of contemporary art to art lovers at home and overseas. For the first time in Vietnam, visitors to an art exhibition had to buy entrance tickets as a respect for the values of art works and whole-hearted creation by the artists. All money collected from ticket sales will be given to children in difficult situations by the exhibition organiser.
