A day trip to Lan Ha Bay offers a blend of luxury cruising, kayaking, rowing through Sang Cave, swimming, and savoring local cuisine on the immense sea.

Departing from Gia Luan Ferry Terminal in Cat Hai Special Zone, Hai Phong, one boards a boat heading into the heart of Lan Ha Bay. As early morning sunlight touches the calm waters, Lan Ha Bay appears gorgeous with small sailing boats on the blue sea surrounded by limestone rocks.

Along the route, one encounters fascinating karst formations shaped by centuries of erosion. Notable is Hon Dua (Chopstick Islet), also known as Hon But (Pen Islet), rising above a water-carved base.

As the boat anchors at Ba Trai Dao (Three Peaches), one can explore secluded sandy coves nestled between islets that create charming natural beaches, some of which only appear at low tide.

Getting off the boat, one can take a closer look at the bay by kayaking, which allows them to navigate narrow passageways inaccessible to larger vessels.

The journey continues toward Sang Cave and Toi Cave, where wooden rowboats guide one through cave entrances into hidden lagoons enclosed by sheer cliffs. Passing through the mouth of Sang Cave, the outside world fades, leaving still waters and towering limestone walls. Back on board, one can enjoy an afternoon tea, experience a hands-on cooking demonstration or swim in designated safe zones.

As dusk approaches, the boat sails toward Cai Beo floating village. Nestled among limestone hills, the village showcases the local life on the island, where aquaculture, daily routines and eco-tourism coexist. The trip ends when sunset falls over the bay, leaving one with a beautiful memory of Hai Phong’s vibrant sea, pristine nature and coastal culture./.
