Discovering Vung Tau - A Coastal City

Vung Tau has been awarded the ASEAN Clean Tourism Cities for 2022 on the Southeast Asia Tourism Forum – ATF 2022. This is the second time in a row that a coastal city in the Southeast region has received this award.

Besides a diversity of landscapes, favorable geographical location, and a year-round temperate climate endowed by nature, Vung Tau attracts visitors for its long-standing historical and cultural values. 

On tourism forums, visitors have evaluated Vung Tau as the southern tourist center to visit. Located about 110km from Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau has a coastline stretching for 20km, protruding from the mainland. There are many clean and beautiful beaches, including Bai Truoc (Front beach) and Bai Sau (Back beach) along with many activities on the water such as canoeing and paragliding that attract a large number of tourists on the weekend.

 

On major holidays and Tet, the beaches in Vung Tau are crowded with tourists. They come to sunbathe, see the sunrise and take a walk on the beach to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere as well as to enjoy the delicious cuisine and seafood along the coast.

It is an ideal place for long holidays. Accommodation services here are very diverse, from affordable motels to luxurious hotels and resorts. Many motels and resorts located near the beach will give to visitors a great vacation.

 

For those who love to explore, Vung Tau is also a good choice with popular cultural and historical destinations such as the Worldwide Arms Museum, Thang Tam Temple with its Nghinh Ong festival, Hon Ba island and the statue of Christ the King which is the largest statue of Christ in Vietnam.

Vung Tau is also a culinary paradise with fresh seafood and local specialties including crab soup, ray hotpot, banh hoi, banh khot and banh kep. Most visitors coming here want to try these dishes.

In the first nine months of 2022, the total number of visitors to Ba Ria – Vung Tau province was 10,223,245, reaching 321% of the year plan and increasing 225%. In the first 6 months of 2022, Vung Tau welcomed more than 3.4 million visitors. Revenue from accommodations and food services is estimated at 3,433 billion dong (144 million US dollars)
