On the night of December 31, on the cold plateau of Da Lat, the opening ceremony of Da Lat Flower Festival 2012 was officially organized at Lam Vien Square with a distinctive artistic programme using the harmony of laser lights, water screens and music.
Da Lat Flower Festival 2012 themed “Da Lat – Flower Festival City” took place over six days from December 30, 2011 to January 4, 2012. The event aimed at promoting the value of flowers and floriculture in Da Lat in particular and in the whole country in general. It also serves to lure investors and tourists. The festival provided a chance to recognize the great contribution from farmers who have made great efforts in Da Lat.
Addressing the opening ceremony, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said that “after four times of successfully organizing the Da Lat Flower Festival, Da Lat is recognized as ‘Vietnam’s Flower Festival City’”.
During the Da Lat Flower Festival 2012, the roads in Da Lat are full of thousands of colorful flowers.
Many beautiful kinds of flowers are shown at the festival.

According to Nguyen Xuan Tien, member of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of Lam Dong Province People’s Committee, over the years Da Lat has reached important milestones in different aspects, particularly in the field of growing and exporting flowers. The city annually exports millions of flowers, bringing the local people great benefits. After half of a century of development, Da Lat flowers have become a well-known brand in the domestic market and has confirmed its position in the international market. Many imported varieties of flowers grown in Da Lat yield high productivity and high quality.
Visiting Da Lat during the festival, tourists seemed to be lost in a world of color and fragrance because flowers were everywhere. Furthermore, tourists had a chance to enjoy artistic programmes and flower shows and could play on Da Lat Golf Course in Cu Hill. It was the first time in 20 years the course was open to tourists. The programme “The World Converges Colours” also introduced tourists to typical images of five continents that were created by flowers, such as Phu Si Mountain in Japan, The Leaning Tower of Pisa and the windmills of The Netherlands.
Da Lat Flower Festival 2012 ended, leaving a long-lasting impression on a romantic and beautiful city with thousands varieties of flowers.
