Ca Mau Celebrates the Tradition of Wet-Rice Cultivation

The southernmost province of Ca Mau is taking new steps to preserve and promote Vietnam’s long-standing wet-rice civilization through the establishment of the Ca Mau Wet-Rice Museum and the Symbol Honoring Wet-Rice Cultivation.

More than simply creating cultural landmarks, the project reflects the province’s commitment to safeguarding historical memories, honoring the enduring contributions of farmers, and preserving the cultural values associated with rice cultivation for future generations.

According to the Ca Mau Provincial People’s Committee, the initiative also serves as part of the province’s action program to implement Politburo Resolution No. 80 on the development of Vietnamese culture. In a region shaped by fertile fields and river networks, the project is expected to become a meaningful cultural destination, highlighting the vital role of wet-rice agriculture in the formation of Vietnamese identity while contributing to cultural tourism and community education in the Mekong Delta.
