Binh Quoi Tourist Areas

Going from downtown Ho Chi Minh City to the north for about ten kilometers visitors will arrive at the Binh Quoi Tourist Area 1 and Binh Quoi Tourist Area 2. There, they will be immersed in a beautiful space, full of the typical characteristics of the watery rural areas in South Vietnam, and enjoy some popular food of the local people.
Binh Quoi Tourist Areas 1 and 2 and the tourist sites of Tan Cang, Van Thanh and Saigon Floating Restaurant are five units of the Binh Quoi Tourist Village under the Saigontourist Holding Company (Saigontourist).
Temporarily getting away from the noisy urban area of Ho Chi Minh City, visitors to Binh Quoi Tourist Area 1 will feel relaxed in a peaceful, clean and airy space on the windy banks of the Sai Gon River. It is known for its smooth green lawns and shade of coconut trees lining the banks of the So Nhat Canal.
For those who return after a long time of being away from home and want to find images of South Vietnam in the past, Binh Quoi Tourist Area 1 is a place to help them reminisce. There, they can find gigs, a blue canal, dinghies, a rough monkey bridge and thatched cottages among lush water coconut trees.

Binh Quoi Tourist Area attracts a large number of both domestic and foreign tourists.

A culinary programme titled “Reclaiming Southern Food” was held outdoors where nearly 80 rustic dishes from the land-reclaiming period hundreds of years ago were introduced and were almost the same as the original dishes. It is an exciting discovery and surprise for visitors.
As a normal practice, in August or September every year, Binh Quoi Tourist Area 1 sends people to different localities to survey and collect traditional dishes to serve. Visitors can find at Binh Quoi many famous dishes of the southern watery areas, such as grilled snakehead fish, noodles with Bac Lieu sauce, snakehead fish soup with bitter vegetables, rice noodle soup with anabas, papaya salad and compressed rice with roasted sesame and salt.
Unlike Binh Quoi 1, Binh Quoi Tourist Area 2, which is not far away, has a more modern style with the characteristics of a coastal area. It has two guest houses, a swimming pool, a tennis court, a traditional song, dance and music program and the culinary programme of “Coastal Delicacies” prepared in a rustic style similar to those in the central coastal fishing villages.
To expand the activities to promote Vietnamese cuisine, apart from popular southern dishes, Binh Quoi Tourist Sites have also organized more culinary programmes of the Southern, Central and Northern regions, such as the “Festival of My Native Land” and “Rice of My Native Land” to introduce Vietnam’s culinary essence to international tourists.
Chiem Thanh Long, Director of Binh Quoi Tourist Village, said: “We build Binh Quoi into recreation and entertainment areas with national cultural characteristics, contributing to preserving Vietnam’s traditional culinary values. As a result, every year Binh Quoi receives millions of visitors who come for sightseeing and relaxing”.
