President welcomes Myanmar parliament speaker

Hanoi , September 6 (VNA) – President Truong Tan Sang received Speaker of the Myanmar Assembly of the Union Thura U Shwe Mann in Hanoi on September 6, saying the latter’s ongoing visit will help deepen the relations between the two countries.

The State leader expressed pleasure to see the guest again since his Myanmar visit in November 2012, asserting that the Vietnamese Party, State and people are willing to bolster multi-faceted cooperation with Myanmar .

He hailed the outcomes of the talks between the speaker and his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Sinh Hung, and suggested the two legislative bodies enhance delegation exchanges and experience sharing in the fields of charge.

President Sang congratulated Myanmar on its recent political-diplomatic, socio-economic achievements as well as its successful assumption of ASEAN Chair 2014.

He thanked the country for its valuable support to Vietnam during the past struggle for national liberation as well as for backing its stance in solving the East Sea issue.

The President suggested the two nations strengthen measures to prmote bilateral cooperation in various fields from finance and banking, agriculture, telecommunications, oil and gas and mineral mining to construction and real estate.

He said he hopes that Myanmar will continue creating favourable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to operate in the country.

Fore his part, Thura U Shwe Mann said Vietnam and Myanmar share a lot of similarities in history, culture, and geography, which are firm foundations for pushing their multi-faceted ties forward.

He noted that Vietnam is currently the seventh largest investor in Myanmar , hoping that Vietnamese firms will continue injecting more money into the country.

He asserted that Myanmar always treasures and wishes to continuously boost collaboration with Vietnam for the peace and development in the region and the world at large.
