Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, who is head of the National Border Committee, informed participants of the regional and global situation, recent achievements in external affairs, and the existing situation in the East Sea.

In changing regional and global circumstances, he said, Vietnam maintains a peaceful environment to develop and build good relations with other countries, firmly safeguards its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and consolidates its international position.

With recent complex developments in the East Sea, Vietnam remains determined to resolve disputes by peaceful means and in accordance with international law, he stated.

He asked Phu Yen to thoroughly understand the importance of the East Sea as well as Vietnam’s rights and interests in this water.

The province should carry out measures to prevent illegal fishing, strictly manage fishing vessels to avoid violations in foreign waters, develop the marine-based economy, and attract more tourists.
