New Hanoi Party chief visits local police, armed forces

Hanoi, February 6 (VNA) – Politburo member Hoang Trung Hai, the newly-assigned Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, extended his best wishes to the municipal Department of Public Security and the High Command of the capital city on February 6 on the occasion of the Lunar Near Year festival (Tet).

Hai appreciated the devotion of the agencies’ officers and soldiers to ensuring defence, political security, and social order and safety in Hanoi.

He asked local police to give their utmost effort to ensure the absolute safety of political events to be held in the capital this year, including the National Assembly election, and to be prepared to respond to any incidents occurring.

The police force must conduct drastic and effective crime crackdowns while heightening security at public places during Tet, he added.

Talking to officers of the city’s High Command, the Secretary said they should be fully aware of their responsibility in safeguarding the nation, they should always be alert - to prevent hostile forces’ sabotage schemes.

The High Command’s agencies need to improve training quality and combat readiness and tighten their connections with local people, the official noted, voicing his belief that local armed forces will earn more achievements in the future.

Also on February 6, Vice Standing Secretary of the Party Committee of southern Binh Duong province Pham Van Canh delivered Tet greetings to the executive board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s provincial chapter and the bishop of the diocese of Phu Cuong./.
