NA Standing Committee’s 38th session opens

Hanoi, May 11 (VNA) – The 13th National Assembly Standing Committee convened its 38th session in Hanoi on May 11 to prepare for the upcoming ninth sitting of the 13th legislature.

Addressing the opening ceremony, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung stated that during the five-day session, lawmakers will focus discussions on socio-economics, security and defence affairs, judicial affairs and thrift practice and wastefulness prevention.

They will debate three draft laws, including the drafts of the revised Civil Code and Law on Referendum.

Also on the agenda are Government projects on establishing Duyen Hai town in Tra Vinh province; Long My town in Hau Giang province; Phu Rieng district in Binh Phuoc; Pho Yen town and Song Cong city in Thai Nguyen province; and Gia Rai town in Bac Lieu.

During the first day, lawmakers gave opinions on the Government’s supplementary reports on the implementation of socio-economic development plans and the State budget in 2014 and early 2015, as well as solutions to allocate funds exceeding the central budget collection last year.

The reports indicate that last year’s socio-economic situation was positive with a stable macro-economy, and controlled inflation. The GDP growth rate reached 5.98 percent, the highest in the last three years.

The 2013 State budget balance and the 2014 report on the practice of thrift and wastefulness prevention are scheduled to be discussed.
