Defence Minister meets Cambodian veterans

Hanoi, December 22 (VNA) – The Vietnam People’s Army will work hard to preserve, cement and develop the solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia, Minister of Defence General Phung Quang Thanh said.

He hosted a reception for the delegation of the Cambodia Veterans’ Association led by the association’s Vice President and Secretary-General General Kun Kim in Hanoi on December 22.

Welcoming the delegation to Vietnam, he affirmed that the State, people and People’s Army of Vietnam always treasure the relationship with Cambodia.

General Thanh highlighted the time-tested ties between Vietnam and Cambodia across economics, politics, culture, science-technology and security-defence.

The general also spoke highly of the cooperation between the Vietnam Veterans’ Association and the Cambodia Veterans’ Association, stressing the necessity for the two sides to ramp up their collaboration and experience sharing which would further strengthen the two nations’ ties.

For his part, General Kun Kim briefed on the outcomes of his delegation’s visit to Vietnam and extended the greetings of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen to the People’s Army of Vietnam on its 71 st founding anniversary (December 22, 1944).
